How we look after your information

Before we start the WatsApp conversation (interview), you will be asked to fill in a Microsoft TEAMS permission (assent) form after reading the Pupil’s Information Sheet. Alternatively, at the beginning of the WatsApp conversation (interview), Gargi (the postgraduate researcher) will explain the participant information sheet, and consent form, with the parent/guardian present (assent) form to the participant via WatsApp.

The research team is well-versed in English, Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Kannada and Chinese. Apart from these languages, if required translation and interpretation services will be arranged.

The information you provide us would be stored in two separate files:

File A will store the information you provide us in your assent form which includes your name, address and that you and your parents/guardian have agreed (or consented) to us recording your responses in the group discussion (focus group).

File B will store the audio-recorded responses that you provide us in the group discussion (focus group). Anything in the audio-recording that can make it possible for people to identify who you are will be removed.

The information you share with us in the group discussion is stored in a locked file. These responses are kept protected so that only people in the immediate research team can see them. Expect in cases where we feel you or someone might be in danger.

Towards the end of the research when we make the findings available to other people, we won’t be using your name, address or any other identifiable information. So, that nobody can identify you through the research.
