Professor Sinead Brophy – primary Supervisor
Professor Sinead Brophy is Professor of Public Health Data Science at Swansea University Medical School, Director of the Centre for Population Health and Lead of Early years in the Administrative Data Research Partnership Wales and Co-Director of Training.
Her area of expertise lies in population health, epidemiology, Big Data analytics and linking research data (cohort, trials, surveys) with routine health and administrative data. She is especially interested in evidence-based interventions and improving the use of existing data, especially in maternal and child health.

Dr Ashra Khanom – Joint Second Supervisor
Dr Ashra Khanom is a Senior Research Fellow in Health Services Research at Swansea University, Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences. She is also a researcher for PRIME Centre Wales, the research centre focusing on primary and emergency care, funded by Health and Care Research Wales, to develop and coordinate research proposals and support researchers
Her main research interests lie in prevention and early intervention, addressing health inequities and unequal access to health care using linked health data, novel patient and public involvement and engagement, and collaboration with the NHS, third-sector organisations, and international partners in Morocco and Tunisia.

Dr James Rafferty – Joint Second Supervisor
Dr Jam Rafferty is a senior statistician at Swansea University. His undergraduate and postgraduate education was in theoretical physics, and as such he is interested in understanding healthcare data using mathematical modelling. Jim has worked on projects such as exploring risk factors for diabetic retinopathy, understanding the risk of mortality in people with type 1 diabetes following a severe hypoglycaemic episode, and the clustering of multiple long-term conditions.
